"Behold, God is my salvation;
I will trust, and will not be afraid"... Isaiah 12:2a
Meeting opened by Pres. Joyce to a very
large audience. Regrettably the person most missed was our excellent
Treasurer, Jim Cupito, by far one of our most popular and most
productive members. Jim's health problem was reported by his
friend Bob Rinear who promised to keep every one informed of
Jim's progress. His family has requested a minimum of phone calls
and/or visits once Jim is home (as well as at the hospital).
Lou Schroeder had, we hope, minor surgery
and seemed to be recovering. (We trust this surgery is reversible).
A "good health" report was made
by Tim that his new son, "Jeffrey Thomas Hornsby" has
settled in to a 4 oz. bottle alternating with a 4 hr nap routine.
(sounds like a happy baby)
Joyce introduced our newest member, Scott
Becker, Gary's replacement (or is that "complement").
Joe Schrage introduced his guest on his third visit, George Klapper,
retired tool and die manufacturer. Speaking of new members, Jane
Reuter, chairperson of that activity is working with Russ Puckett
to get new members and new corporate sponsors for the Rose Bloom
Boom, looming close by on May 14. Gary Becker announced "Nite
at the Races" at St. A's on Feb.13. Lots of good food, drinks
and entertainment for only $7.50 per person. Tom White restated
the dates for his upcoming concert at Music Hall, March 14. If
you see publicity on this it will be called "Thriftway Sound
For Hope". Also, his performance will be at Westminster
Presbyterian Church on April 30. Try to attend and help these
worthy causes.
Generalities: Glad Hand to Steve Newsome;
Split the Pot $250.00 to Dan Finke, again; Cliff led singing
two timely tunes; Pres. Joyce needs young able bodies to cater
the Keeneland buses (or there aint gonna be no buses); Jack Kahny
displayed the cover of the yearbook to an appreciative audience;
Great board meeting sponsored by Judy and Joanne; and if you
didn't know who George Schaefer (past member) was, Joe Schrage
passed around his picture for show and tell; finally, big thanks
to Walt Luthy for last week's last minute substitution as bulletin
writer!!
Jeff Berding, long time Western Hills resident
and current Director of Community Affairs for the Bengals was
our speaker today and his message was an optimistic view of said
sports franchise!
Next week's speaker will be Dr. O'Dell
Owens.
