...the angle said to the woman, "He
is not here; for he has risen, as he said." Matt. 28:5,6
President Joyce Schroeder, embarking on
the second half of her presidential term, opened the meeting
in the usual manner with pledge, song, and invocation by Tom
White.
Our guests today were Tom Riggs salesman for Western Hills Windows
and Lois Cockerham from the Community Press.
New member, (a title sticks with you until
your replaced by a newer member), Scott Becker was introduced
by Pres. Joyce. The other new member, Ron Forte is busy developing
all those family photos we took Easter Sunday. Why do four persons
armed with four cameras need four shots of the same thing, then
get double prints besides?
Report on Dick Mather is encouraging. He
is feeling better, but is still in Christ Hospital and welcomes
visitors. John Nordmeyer had minor surgery and is home doing
fine. He hopes to return next Tuesday. Jim Cupito is undergoing
treatment and was not at the meeting. Jim will be needing transportation
to and from the hospital. Contact Bob Rinear if you can help.
Accusations and rumours are abound pertaining
to Dan Kipp and his sudden and unexpected generosity. It is rumoured
Dan not only bought some members lunch last week, but he also
provided transportation to a meeting for Pres. Joyce. We better
keep an eye on Dan!
Jane Reuter and Bob Rinear gave a progress
report on the Rose Bloom Boom. We have 334 tickets in circulation
with about 75 paid. We had a motto with friutcake, "sell
it or eat it". All outstanding tickets need to be sold.
A word of caution on reservations for the RBB night at The Farm.
Tables seat 4 or 6 only and can not be pulled together (The Farm's
rule). No preference to location will be permitted. Contact Tony
Proffitt early with the number in your party and tables will
be reserved. The earlier you call the better your chance of your
group being together. If you are not pleased with this arrangement
volunteer for the job next year and make your own rules.
Gene Simpkins, who lives in the country
where eggs are cheaper, is giving a dozen fresh eggs (you know
they are fresh when the "do do" is still on the shell)
to members that give a little extra to Kiwanis. So far Dan Kipp,
Cliff Franklin, and Tom White have received this award.
Cliff Franklin announced the annual Student
Recognition Day is April 27. He also mentioned when he takes
the podium he sometimes is awarded free vegetables as well as
eggs.
Cincinnati Police Officers Rich Minella
and Greg Kittle gave us a report on the latest crime stats in
the area.
Ed Flick spoke on behalf of vice president
candidate Paul Hogue. Ed highlighted some of Paul's accomplishments
with Kiwanis and was brief, which should help Paul get votes.
Walt Luthy another VP candidate won the
"name the pig contest" with the name of "Wilhelmina
Swinette". He received a clock radio and lots of groans
for that one.
Kim Munafo announced she will be taking
a position in Hamilton, Ohio and will have to transfer to the
Hamilton Kiwanis. We hate to lose Kim, but she is excited about
the move, especially since it reduced her drive to work from
54 miles to just 4 miles. Kim if you happen to be in the area
on Tuesday stop in for a visit. Kipp will treat you to lunch!
Cliff Shrive from the Cincinnati Water
Works gave us an interesting program on the inter workings of
the Water Works. Cincinnati has some of the best drinking water
in the country, thanks to our carbon filtration facilities. Mr.
Shrive reminded us it's not the water that so expensive, it's
the sewer charges.
