PRICE HILL / WESTERN HILLS KIWANIS BULLETIN - January 11, 2000

Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and fine grace to help in time of need. Heb. 4:16

The attendance was a bit sparse today. We can blame it on the sick list and snowbirds. President Tony Proffitt opened the meeting and Tina McGary gave the invocation.

We only had reports on three sick members, but I imagine a few are fighting the flu or colds. It was reported Dan Kipp is home and feeling much better. He hopes to continue his plans for a trip to California. Gene Simpkins spent the weekend, which included his birthday, in the hospital. Gene was admitted with pneumonia and bronchitis but left the hospital Monday with the shingles. Cliff Franklin is under going test for his heart. He has been told many times it was too soft. We were unsuccessful in our attempts to procure additional information regarding Jennie Olberding's father. If anyone has an update please contact Tina or Tony.

The Sixth Division meeting will be held here at Celebrations West on January 26, 2000. Our Club is not the sponsor this time, but the meeting is here because they like it.

Thank you notes were received from Central Fairmount School, Resurrection School and Holy Family School for the hats and gloves. Thank you note was also received from Wesley Hall for our donations.

Jane Reuter is looking for members to serve on the Membership Committee. Anyone interested should contact Jane. This is a very important committee. It is the life line for maintaining our Club strength.

Tom Reuter is once again collecting those old Christmas Cards you are about to pitch out. Various schools use the cards for arts and crafts. If you bring them to the meeting Tom distribute them.

On Sunday March 19, 2000 from 7 - 9 PM our own Tom White will be the feature Pianist at the Sounds of Hope Concert at Music Hall. In addition to Tom there will be many other talented performers. Tom Reuter thought it would be nice if a group of us attended. We would try to get a block of tickets together. Prices range from $11 to $ 21.

Cincinnati Police Officer Rich Minella announced the city is initiating a "gun safety program". They will furnish gun locks for your personal weapons in return you must attend a 15 to 20 minute firearms safety presentation. Those interested should see Office Rich for additional information.

Robert Rinear, who is due to be jailed for charity, won a little MDA "bail money" thanks to split the pot.

The music and singing was provided by Tom and Tom. Mr. White and the piano and Mr. Reiring on vocal. In addition to smile we did the happy birthday to Tina McGary, Richard Mather and Tom Reuter.

VP Paul Hogue introduced Mr. Mark Looy. Mark is associated with Answers In Genesis. Their mission statement is to bring reformation by restoring the foundations of our faith which are contained in the book of Genesis! (Psalm 11:3, Isaiah 53:12). And "More than just a Creation VS Evolution Ministry".

Thanks Paul for bringing us both diversity and interesting programs. Next week will be our own Tom Reiring. The following week, radio personality Jim Scott, will be the featured speaker.
