PRICE HILL / WESTERN HILLS KIWANIS BULLETIN - January 25, 2000

Frank ST.Charles opened the meeting as Tony was home with his sick kid. His son has strep throat. Invocation was short & sweet by Joe Fettig. Then on to business.

Guests were introduced, Tim Hornsby intro'd Brian Sweeney for his second visit. Brain is the youngest brother of Walt Sweeney.
Our guest speaker is Jim Scott who announced, "glad you're here Brian I don't feel so alone".

Sick list is a bummer; Cliff Franklin went in to get tested for heart problems. They found an aneurysm in his leg and also needed to do an angiogram to check for blockages in the heart. During the angiogram Cliff had a violent reaction to the dye material and was placed in intensive care. After the reaction it was discovered that at the same time he had suffered a small stroke. He is now undergoing treatment to get his strength up, treat the stroke and then prepare him for angioplasty. He wants no visitors or calls bet cards (to his home) would be welcome. We'll keep you updated as we can.

Bill Stautberg reports Gene Simpkins still in pain from pneumonia but feels he is getting better. Dan Kipp still not feeling well from his bout with pneumonia possibly went to California too soon. Guy Langenbrunner coming along after knee surgery.

Bob Rinear reports Jim Cupito is being transferred to Hospice. It was decided that Jim could not be handled at home. It is apparent to Jim and all that this was the best thing for Jim. Jim needs your prayers and thoughts for a peaceful transition.

As a reminder Jim was spear heading an outing to Ron's Roost for Feb 8th sign up if you want to go on with this perhaps as an inabsentia gathering for Jim.

Poul Lemasters, on behalf of the local funeral directors, reported that contrary to reports shoveling snow is OK, cold weather is a myth don't pay any attention. A couple people falling over is OK don't get excited we'll take care of them.

Tom Reuter talked of the Sounds For Hope the concert featuring Tommy White along with 150 voice All City Choir and others. Concert at Music Hall March 19th 7 to 9 PM .

A thank you was read from the Problem Pregnancy Center with regard to our contribution which goes to aiding the young mothers.

Glad Hands to Tom White, Tina McGary, Wally Flender, Scott Becker, Lou Schroeder, Tim Hornsby, Charlene Bosken, Ed Flick, Jane Reuter.
Tom White won split the pot.

We sang Faith of our Fathers and Smile. We sang Happy Birthday to our guest Jim Scott just for the heck of it.

Then we sang Happy Anniversary to Bob Rinear they are celebrating their 75th Anniversary. 75 you say yes he says. He was married 35 years to Beverly, Carol to Dan Jenks for 30 years, and he and Carol for 10 years. So the total is 75 for all the family members. This is the first time since their wedding day that both families have been together at the same time.

Thanks Frank you ran a great meeting. Now Paul Hogue introduced Jim Scott our speaker.

Thanks to all and see you next Tuesday.
