"For surely, O Lord, you bless
the righteous; you surround them with your favor as with a shield."
- Psalm 5:12
Beautiful invocation
by guest, Gary Jaycox (did someone call him Jerry Gaycox?), and
happy birthday to you!
Steve Newsome's
wife Velma is home, and doing "OK" according to Tina
McGary, Caring Committee Chairperson, who does such a great job
sending cards and flowers to those of us who are under-the-weather.
Gene Simpkins will
be back - he is recovering from shingles and pneumonia.
Dan Kipp is also
recovering from pneumonia, but he's in California. Let's pray
for him, anyway (wink!)...
Ed Willig's son,
Jim, has had to give up his inspirational hot-line, because the
medication slows him down. Let's pray for that miracle!
Judy Jennison had
an MRI last week due to some back trouble. More news is forthcoming...
Cliff Franklin
is suffering from the effects of a stroke, and is now in Bethesda
North. He can be called after 4:00 pm (936-7403) and visiting
times are 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
Sadly, Bill Bigner
asked that Jim Cupito not receive phone calls, and visits should
be limited to 15 minutes. Directions - 75 North to Ronald Reagan
East, take the first Blue Ash Exit, Turn left onto Plainfield
Rd., stay in right lane, keep right at the fork - Reed Hartman
Rd., turn right on Cooper, first driveway on left - Hospice of
Cincinnati.
Gary Langenbrunner
announced he is celebrating his three-week anniversary (for his
knee) and said, "Thanks for the prayers."
Tim Hornsby brought
Brian Sweeney for his 3RD VISIT! WHOOP! WHOOP! MEMBERSHIP
COMMITTEE! MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE!
Other guests: John
Buttelworth, Officer Kittel.
Tom Reuter is still
gathering (used) Christmas cards, and is doing fine, thank you!
See Dan Finke if
you're going to the Dutch Treat Dinner at Ron's Roost (Feb. 8,
6:30pm)
Lou Schroeder thanked
his better half Joyce, Sandy and Ed Flick, Ostertag, and Scott
Becker for attending the bimonthly Divisional Meeting, which
was at our "home" location, last Wednesday.
Lou also reminded
the club "We need IDD $!!!"
The Lenten Breakfasts
are coming!!! More on these in later bulletins...
Joyce S. reminded
that club that they need a few good men and women to serve as
board members and officers.
Sunday, March 19th
is the "Sounds for Hope," presented to benefit CityCURE,
City Gospel Mission, and Jobs Plus Employment Network. Tickets
are $10-$20. Please see Tom White!
FYI, per Ostertag,
the "Problem Pregnancy Center" is now known as "Pregnancy
Center West, Inc." Sounds like a wise and sensitive change.
Guy L. reminded
the club about "Back to Broadway," reputed to be a
dazzling review of Broadway's finest music. Dates: Feb. 18 +
19, 25 + 26, March 3 + 4 at 8:15pm at the College of Mount St.
Joseph Theater. Proceeds to benefit St. Antoninus.
Remember - Wed.,
Feb. 9th, is the next Board of Directors Business Meeting.
Ed Willig's tremendous
voice led the club in "A Merry Life."
Speaking of voices
- how about our guest's (Gary Jaycox)? One could understand
him finding mucho work in commercials. He currently works for
WAKW, 93.3 FM ("Family Matters") a Christian station,
which happily doesn't devote 24 hours/day to preaching and "stained-glass
organ music," per Mr. Jaycox. He is on from 6:00am to 10:00pm,
and is also the Program Director.
Gary also said
that the station's target audience is a family with a father,
mother, two teens, and one "where did she come from?"
My youngest brother, Bruce, was a "where did he come from?"
but I'm sure Mom would say that God's plans are the best... POSTSCRIPT
- Marshall Gary forced all us hombres who didn't wear our badges
to stand up and suffer public humiliation (including yours truly).
He admonished the club to proudly wear these every week, or
face a fine of 25 cents.
He said this while
wearing a "Rob Heidenreich" badge.
And Tim Hornsby
was wearing a "Robert Plagge" badge.
Dick Bucher, Sr.
had one that read: "Dick Bucher, JR."!!!
Though we miss
some of the faces that appear in the Kiwanis Yearbook, it's nice
to know that their badges are still making regular appearances
at club meetings....
- Dr. Frankenshine.
