PRICE HILL / WESTERN HILLS KIWANIS BULLETIN - May 9, 2000

The effective fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much. James 5:16

On a bright and beautiful Tuesday Tony Proffitt called the meeting to order followed, as always, by "My Country Tis of Thee" and The Pledge of Allegiance. Some things, however, need to stay the same! Bill Seitz gave the invocation.

Tony moved us right into the introduction of guests for this week Brian Sweeney a not so guest guest and Nancy Ziglar. With a quick segue to our sick list, fortunately short, Fr Willig and Harry Maly. Greg Hartlaub added that Harry is at Elder Mount on Tuesdays and Thursdays and on this particular day was in good form. That is he new Greg recalled the past and was in good health. So it would be possible to visit perhaps on those days or call and see how Harry is. Tony then went to the not sick list and called on Tom Reuter who reports that his latest checkup reveals all clear and well. Great News Tom, keep up the fight.

Bob Rinear and Paul Hogue are the hosts for Wednesday night's Board Meeting at West Park. Frank St. Charles asks for help for Board meeting sponsors. Frank needs help for August, September and October. Please see if you can help, this and your attendance to the board meetings really are necessary!

Dan Finke reported on Rose Bloom Boom, Bob Rinear reports 190 tickets in the Bank. Last year we had 340 tickets sold so we're a bit behind. If you have not turned them in please do so we know where we stand.

Dan Kipp reported that Mother Load and Bonanza tickets are alive but not well. So those of you who have participated in the past step up and give the mother of all Bonanzas and Loads a shot in the be..bu.. Oh you know. Also Dan says Tomatoes next week. Let him know how many you want.

Scott Becker reported on golf pkg. for Gary, Sign up there are some great prizes. Tony Proffitt is your Reservation Man for Rose Bloom Boom, so let him know how many you need.

Lou Schroeder explained and passed around his bag of money for raffling off at RBB. He also pitched for silent auction items. Then he launched into some sayings that reflect why we are so screwed up in the schools and society. It was a good idea but a bit wanting in delivery. The next time, put a little more enthusiasm into it or maybe get Joyce to make the delivery.

Glad Hands went to Sandy Flick, Tom Reuter and Bob Rinear.

Bill Seitz read a thank you letter from Kelly Richardson. Kelly is one of two winners from Seton High School of the Rudy Jacobs Scholarship award. A nice thank you it was too.

We sang smile because all our songbooks are in the shop for repairs.

Paul Hogue introduced our speaker, Tim Bray with the new Kentucky Speedway. Tim talk was informative and his description of the facility sounds like a place you might want to try out at least once.

Again thanks Paul for a great program.

Well, I'm done for now but I look forward to the camaraderie of next Tuesday's lunch meeting. Don't miss it and I won't miss you.
