PRICE HILL / WESTERN HILLS KIWANIS BULLETIN - May 23, 2000

Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul. Matt. 22:37

Tony Proffitt called all to order with opening ceremonies led by Tom White and Invocation by Lou Schroeder.

Tony intro'd our Head Table guests Bob Hamilton, Lt. Gov. and Vicki Wira the Lt. Gov. Elect. Also sitting in our good friend Ray Kluener.

Ed Willig reported on Jim Willig. Prayers are requested for Fr. Jim

H.A. Musser reports Aug 28th at Hidden Valley, the third annual Santa Maria Golf Outing will be held. See HA for tickets. Howard Zoellner reported the largest crowd yet at the Kiwanis district golf outing with Gary Becker's team placing well with six under.

Tom returning to Cleveland Clinic next week so he and Jane will not be at the meeting, he asks for your prayers that all remains well.

Bob Rinear reports 310 tickets were sold so we will gross $28 to $29 thousand. Gary Becker reports discounted Golf tickets now on sale for $5.00. Joyce gave thanks to all that helped with the auction in setup and tear down.

Gene Simpkins weekly good egg award went to Lee Trauth's widow for her yearly support of the Lee Trauth Scholarship award that is presented to selected students each year.

Gene also made up a Ham & Egg barrel that was raffled off at Rose Bloom Boom. Tom Bruening's son won with a guess of 151 eggs in the barrel. Along with the eggs came a honey baked ham weighing in at 9 pounds.

Next up Lt. Gov. Bob Hamilton thank us for the support at the outing and then spoke about concerns now being raised regarding the International Kiwanis Foundation, particularly with regard to the accounting of funds that are being sent to International. The accounting does not disclose where of how the money is being spent causing concern among the Governors. Bob has requested this information but to date the International Foundation has been mute on the matter. Make sure you express your views to the reps at the national and International level so that we maintain control of how these organizations work.

Glad Hands went to Lou Schroeder and Poul Lemasters

Ed Willig led us in song Grand Old Flag for Memorial Day Weekend and we closed with Smile aptly accompanied by Maestro Thomas White.

Our program today will announce the awards for vocational guidance. Where we awarded the Rudy Jacobs and Lee Trauth awards to Seton, Elder, Mercy and West High.

With students and some parents we had a great turn out for the event not to mention some grateful students!

Well time to go, so till next Tuesday, this is the old bulletin writer Walt Luthy sayin' "So Long Till Next Tuesday"!

BAH DUM DUM!!
