PRICE HILL / WESTERN HILLS KIWANIS BULLETIN - June 13, 2000

Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and Him only shalt thou serve. Matt. 4:10

Why is it? Bad weather is blamed for poor attendance, but today the weather is beautiful and the attendance is poor. Do we now blame it on the good weather too? Even our conscientious President Tony was missing.

Saving the day was Tony's faithful companion VP Frank St Charles. Frank started the meeting with the pledge, song and prayer. The dynamic duo Judy Jennison and Jo Ann Kahle teamed up for the invocation.

No guests were in attendance, but Nancy Ziegler our newest member did make it in spite of the beautiful day. Another new member Wes Reynolds has a broken something, we're just are not sure what. It was reported to be a leg or an ankle. He joins Edgar Willig who has his hand in a cast.

Gene Simpkins thanked the membership for their concern and prayers in the recent death of his brother. Gene had another dozen of fresh brown eggs to honor a fellow member. I don't think it had anything to do with the egg color. Gene pick Tom Brown for his extra effort to make the weekly meetings.

Tom Reuter reported he has successfully completed two sessions of radiation treatment. There is a bright side to this. If this is the origin of the cancer, after treatments, Tom will be given a clean bill. Actually he will be given a bill regardless. The other good news, Tom can drive to the treatments himself, but the Club stands ready to travel if needed.

While on the good news, Robert Rinear reported the final figures for the Rose Bloom Boom. Three hundred and nine tickets sold, which is a few less than last year, but the corporate sponsors increased to eleven. The total funds remitted to the Club was twenty nine thousand dollars. This will support our many projects. The Christmas toy program, the food bank and the community youth programs to name a few. We deeply appreciate all who helped make this a grand success.

Judy Jennison collected the split the pot. I'm sure she will share it with her partner Jo Ann Kahle. Well I'm not totally sure, but it is a good bet.

Jane Reuter had the honor of introducing Dr. Robert D. Weathers our speaker. Dr. Weathers is a graduate of Ohio State University College of Optometry. He specializes in enhancing visual performance. In addition to an eye exam he will evaluate the visual processing. Children are often labeled as ADD, LD or Behavioral Problems for what is really undiagnosed visual problems. Instead of labels, Dr. Weathers looks for the underlying problems.
