Pres. Tony
Proffitt called out meeting to order and Tom White managed to
pull himself away form the lunch table just in time to lead us
in the traditional song and pledge. Estelle Ruehl gave the invocation
give thanks that Tom would now be able to make it to dinner without
much trouble.
Don Bearghman
attended the meeting and also brought our only guest, Creig Hockenberry.
Creig will be serving and the new Assistant Principal at Oyler
Elementary School for the upcoming school year. Our newest members
Nancy Zigler and Chuck Cole also attended the meeting.
On the update
list: Chuck Cole (the Third) reported that Wes Reynolds (the
Fifth) was up an around with a cast on that sprained ankle. Although
unable to attend the meeting, and apparently a basketball game
as well, he is able to get to work.
Tom Reuter as of Tuesday, has 7
treatments down and 13 more to go. Hopefully this radiation will
work without requiring Tom to undergo any surgery. Tom is able
to drive himself too and from the treatment, but if needed I
know the club will jump and request to help Tom at a moments
notice.
Our club
received thank yous' from Kathy King and Betsy Maly. Our Scholarship
winners from Mother of Mercy High School.
Our local
District Three Police Officer reported on the crime in the area.
Its reported that with the increased gas prices, there has been
an increase in gas station pump and go's. He also reported that
a special task force has been put together to study the increase
number of bank robberies. Now that summer has arrived, the number
of crimes is on the rise.
John Nordmeyer
won split-the-pot, for the first time ever. And Edgar Willig,
with cast and all on his wrist, lead us in singing "Good
Old Summer Time" and "Smile".
Our guest
speaker was Dr. Z. Charles Fixler. Dr. Fixler came to us through
the American Cancer Society. He specializes in Cancer of the
Skin. The slide presentation showed what to look for with spot
that may appear on your skin.
Remember
our next meeting will be at the same time and the same place.
See you next week, Kevin
