Rom. 15:13 President Tony Proffitt presided over a sparse crowd of fellow Kiwanians and guests. The meeting opened in the usual manner with the pledge, song and invocation by Tom Brown. Don Bearghman principal of Oyler School, introduced his guest and assistant at Oyler, Crag Hockenberry. Crag is interested in joining the Club. Bill Reusing, a member of the Oak Hills Club introduced members of the Kiwanis Aktion Club. Greg Meyers, B Chiodi, and M Chiodi. Please remember Jenny Olberding and her family in your prayers. Jenny's father passed away last week. Sorry about the delayed announcement, but there was no meeting on the Fourth. Also remember Fr. Jim Willig, he recently had surgery to remove a lump on his knee. Dan Kipp reported, although Ester's broken arm is healing, she still has trouble pushing the lawn mower, especially up hill. In a time when the longevity of some marriages are recorded in months instead of years, it is heartening to announce Dick and Jeanette Mather recently celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary and Greg and Rita Hartlaub celebrated their 57th anniversary. On July the 19th the Sixth Division will meet at Molly's on the Green in Green Hills. Officers, Directors and members wishing to attend please contact Lou Schroeder. We need at least four to qualify for an interclub. On July 20th an informal gathering of members interested in fellowship and maybe some beverages will meet at the Crow's Nest. The party will start about ?. The main man, Tony, is expected to arrive about 7:00 PM. The following announcement would be "news
bulletin" status for most of us, but for Jack Kahny it is
another chapter in the Kahny Family Book of Records. Jack reported
he, and Claire of course, are the proud grandparents again and
another again. Number 22 was born June 1 to daughter Sue and
number 23 was born June 25 to son Bill. Both are girls making
the Kahny scoreboard read 7 boys and 16 girls. Happy Birthday to JoAnn Kahle and Cliff Franklin. Paul Hogue introduced our program speaker Tim Conley. Tim, a member of the Oak Hills Kiwanis and representative to the Aktion Club gave a brief history of the Aktion Club. It started in 1985-86 to help adults with disabilities develop and be a productive. It was introduced to our area by Bill Reusing and thanks to the efforts of Tim it has continued to flourish. Tim received the coveted Hixson Award for his untiring contributions to the Aktion Club. Their main and only fund raiser is the annual Car Wash. It cost $5, but ticket sales out number car washes, thank goodness.
