PRICE HILL / WESTERN HILLS KIWANIS BULLETIN - July 25, 2000

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom. Col. 3:16

In Tony's absence Frank St. Charles opened our meeting. Tommy White played wonderfully as usual and Walt Luthy gave the invocation. Now on to the meat of the meeting:

First of all I apologize for the late bulletin. I did not get it done on time.

Guests were Greg Hockenberry Asst Prin. of Oyler. He is to become a member and because we had no program today there was time to conduct Craig's interview at the end of the meeting.

Frank introduced Officer Rich Minella who reported on the crime stats and the fact that Officer Kittle has left Cinti. PD for Blue Ash. His replacement will be Officer Mike Brown.

The sick report finds some additional bad news on Fr. Willig. John Nordmeyer reported the Drs. Have found a lump on Fr. Jim's hip and are determining a course of action. Our prayers are with you and Edgar. The family will travel to Fatima with Father Willig this next Tuesday. Judy Jennison underwent surgery the past Friday and is doing well. Tina has sent her a card from the club. Tom Reuter reports all is well and that he has finished the latest round of radiation therapy and asks you to continue to keep him in your prayers.

Kudos to John Nordmeyer and Kevin Kahny for their efforts and reports on "Young Children Priority One" for which we have received a banner patch from our district Kiwanis by David Kelch. A letter describing the award was given to John.

Next Tuesday all members are requested to be at the meeting. Bob Rinear has asked that we all think of how we can get involved with service projects for the community. We want ideas and how to get them done in order to expand our presence as a service oriented club in the area. Tuesday is a working meeting.

Tina will make calls to the membership to attend this meeting.

Craig Hockenberry then explained the Oyler hosting program that brings mentoring to the students at Oyler. The show is called Legends and the prize is a BMW of $15000 in cash. Craig has tickets and a good cause it is. The result of the mentoring took Oyler from 4% in reading to 49% in reading and won then a grant for $25000 to continue this program.

Lou Schroeder thanked all for the efforts on the IDD program. We have won a Hixson for our efforts. Please continue to put the cans out in the community as this program supports children's needs around the world. This is a national program.

Frank announced the numbers for the split the pot and guess what He Won! With no program we closed with song.

Y'ALL come next Tuesday Here!
