PRICE HILL / WESTERN HILLS KIWANIS BULLETIN - August 8, 2000

Thanks be to God, who gives us victory through our lord Jesus Christ. I Cor. 15:57

President Tony Proffitt opened the meeting in the usual manner and asked Howard Zoellner to give the invocation.

The only guest was Mary O'Dwyer, director of the Oyler School HOST program. Mary was introduced by Craig Hockenberry, the assistant principal at Oyler and soon to be new member.

Last week Harry Maly passed away. Harry was a member of the Club until his health restricted his activities. Please remember the Maly family in your prayers. While on your knees pray for the wife of a member from the past, Bill Schulster. (I'm guessing at the spelling. He was a member long before my time.). Keep on praying, your not done yet! Fr. Willig also needs your prayers. He has returned from Fatima and needs additional surgery.

President Tony read a couple of thank you notes, one from the Gerstner family for the memorial donation and one from Judy Jennison for the flowers while hospitalized. Judy endure the operation, attended the meeting today and was presented the Gene Simpkins Fresh Egg Award. How is that for bouncing back?

Glad Hand prizes went to Gary Becker, a health food snack (Gary's weight loss is jeopardizing his Santa image), Cafco T shirt to JoAnn Kahle and a book of the worlds hotels to Dan Kipp. The winner of split the pot was Jane Reuter.

Tom White, the birthday administrator, announced Jerry Roth and Greg Hartlaub celebrated birthdays this week. Greg has hit that big 8 0 !

VP Paul Hogue, having returned from his recent vacation, minus his luggage, introduced the guest speaker Margaret Fritz from the Saint Michael Center in lower Price Hill.

David Wecker of the Cincinnati Post wrote and article about Margaret on June 27th. I recommend you read it.

To sum up her 30 minute presentation, I'd say Margaret is the "Mother Theresa of Lower Price Hill. Her main thrust at the Saint Michael Center is feeding, clothing and consoling the needy people in that area. If you would like to help, donations can be made to the Saint Michael Center.

They would appreciate food, clothing, furniture, volunteers, anything a baby might need and of course financial help. If you have any questions contact Margaret Fritz at 921-0766. If you call, be ready to help! She will not let you get away.
