"Praise the name of the Lord your
God." Joel 2:26
In Tony's absence, Frank St Charles called
the meeting to order.
Tom White played magnificently, as well
we sung and recited the pledge magnificently. All in all it was
truly magnannifficent!
All this was followed by a truly excellent
invocation by Tom Riggs.
Frank St Charles then took the floor and
made comment on the remarkable recovery of our good friend Dick
Mather. Dick cam in walking and looking much like old today and
if you can remember it wasn't too many months ago it looked as
though we might loose a good friend. Today we gave a round of
applause to Dick and wishes for continued progress on the road
to health.
Today we had nine members of Delhi Riverview
Kiwanis with us among them were John and Carol Sagle, Mark Forrester,
Clay Jamison, Mike McNutt, Keith Cain and Al Duebber. Tom Reiring
introduced as a guest his son 16 month old Elliott Reiring.
Ed Willig then gave a report on his son
Fr. Jim Willig. As you know Fr. Willig is suffering from Cancer.
They went to Fatima in hope of a miracle, however none is yet
apparent. The Drs said Fr. Willig needed more surgery for tumors
on the bone in the legs. The surgery was a success in that the
cancer was removed, with plastic filler and a titanium rods being
placed in the legs in place of the bone. More treatment and prayers
are needed to see if this will bring good news to Fr. Willig
and the family. Keep those Prayers coming folks!
Well we had no announcements or correspondence
this week so Frank introduced Gene Simpkins for the GOOD EGG
of the WEEK award. Well Gene says each week as he comes out of
Milan he just has to stop and visit his favorite old Hen who
just lays the best Brown Eggs in the County. Each week he gets
the best of the eggs the old hen produces.
This week Gene says that these best Brown
eggs goes to the fella who always there and helps out no matter
what it is. Earl Ostertag gets the honor this week of the GOOD
EGG AWARD!!
Split the pot was drawn and went to one
of the guests Mike McNutt.
Then apparently to everyone's pleasure
Ed Willig led us in song first Happy Birthday to Scott Becker,
and then Happy Days are Here Again. Yet even with the words we
managed to leave Tommy in the dust on a couple of lines. Then
closed with Smile.
Al Duebber thanked us for all our years
of support for the car show that is Delhi's fundraiser. AL proceeded
to advise us that after all these years of buying tickets the
club won a major award. This year it was a DSS Satellite Dish
and we can use it as we desire.
Well now its time for the program this
week, Walt Mayer former sports announcer from 9 & 12. Walt
had some nifty anecdotes from his career very interesting and
in some cases not repeatable. Thanks to Paul Hogue for the continued
good programs that we have had all this year.
Well I'll be going now and till next Tuesday
see you at the meeting.
