The meeting started with the usual opening
ceremonies and the invocation by Wally Flender. President Tony
Proffitt, presiding over the last meeting of this Kiwanis year,
ask if there were any guests. Guy Langenbrunner, attending his
fall quarterly meeting, introduced his friend Doug Kohls. Since
Doug is in the lawn service business, maybe when Guy makes the
spring quarterly meeting, he will invite Doug back. If you think
I'm picking on Guy, your right and he would be disappointed if
I didn't.
The temperature must have dropped below
60 degrees our good buddy and honorary part time member Earl
Oakes and his lovely wife Mary Ann are heading for Florida. We
thank you for camaraderie and will look forward to seeing you
again in the spring.
Frank St Charles's asked us to remember
his father in our prayers. We don't know the details, but Mr.
St Charles is undergo dialyses treatments. Tina McGary is taking
a year off from Kiwanis because of her health. Tina said she
will stay in contact with the Club.
Lost and Found - Tom Reuter is missing
a pair of eye glasses. If you find them or know the whereabouts
please contact Tom. A substantial reward will be offered.
Greg Hartlaub is looking for some members
to help at the Holy Family Food Pantry. They need someone with
a van or truck to pick up supplies. It only takes a couple of
hours. Contact Greg if you can help.
It seems a long way off but the Elder -
West Hi MVP Awards lunch is on November 21st. Rod Huber, football
coach at Mt. St Joseph College, will present the awards.
The Oakdale School for Horse Riding Lessons for Multi-handicapped
Children sent a thank you note including a picture of the kids
riding the horses.
David Wecker of the Cincinnati Post wrote
a follow-up article about how the Price Hill Western Hills Kiwanis
helped Margaret Fritz get a desperately needed new reliable van
for the St. Michael Center. Gary Becker thought Dan Kipp wrote
the piece because his name was mentioned so often.
Lou Schroeder has Meals-on-Wheels signs
to place in your auto window when delivering the meals.
Greg Hartlaub won the Gene Simpkins "Good
Egg Award" for being a dedicated Kiwanian.
John Nordmeyer won the Split the Pot, again!
Tom White is back at the piano and Walt
Luthy is back to leading us in singing
(using the word loosely). It would help if we all sang the same
song. Well at least we try!
