The Lord is my strength and my shield;
my heart trusts in Him. Psalm 28:7
By the attendance
of last Tuesday's meeting, many people were out enjoying this
fine summer weather. I guess you can't blame them. The frost
will be on the pumpkins by this weekend. That's just a saying
us country folks spout this time of year. Fall has never been
my favorite time of year. It's so sad to see all the flowers
freezing their little buds off.
On to business,
Lt. Scott Seay of the Salvation Army gave us an opening prayer.
Our sick list incudes
Diane Dunn, our food server. She has a case of XX pneumonia.
Charles St. Charles, Frank's father is currently undergoing dialysis.
Fr. Willig is weak and receiving kemo. Edgar gave us a mini homily.
His faith in God is an inspiration to all of us. Dick Mather
generously reminded us that he does have a van with a wheel chair
lift if needed.
Officer Brown gave
us the crime stats for our area, 204 in all. Some of the hot
spots for juveniles are McHenry and Harrison, and can you believe
Daytona. Radar will be up and running at Boudinot & Glenmore.
So be careful if you have a heavy foot.
I've been aware
of the hostile remarks made about my favorite friend Dan Kipp.
Everyone is picking on him. Now I will point out some good points
about him. His nickname is "The Mole Killer." He helps
keep our lawn safe to walk on. You heard of the Horse Whisperer.
Well he's the mole counterpart. With traps in hand, he circles
the area and whispers "I'll get you X@###!! varmits."
He's our neighborhood hero. I bet you'll valve this bit of info.
So be kind to Dan next week, he deserves it.
As Frank takes
over the gavel, the hook, the microphone and whatever president
take over, he gets the Gene Simpkins good egg award along with
everything else.
Frank is asking
for feedback on the Past President Luncheon.
An initial meeting
for the "2001 Rose Bloom Boom" is scheduled for 10-19-2000.
It will be held at Sandy & Ed's home at 1617 Devil's Backbone
Rd. Being the only fundraiser, lots of help and planning is needed.
All members are invited.
Membership meeting
at Ron's Roost on October 19 at high noon. The speaker for the
week was Ben Kaufman, religion and education reporter for the
Enquirer. He spoke on lack of education in our schools. Ohio
is under educationed well below national average. You know I've
noticed that from some of the calls we get here at the shop.
As always . . . . Lois L. Lane
Note from Paul:
T.J. Lounge, 937 Devils Backbone Rd. is
having its second annual golf outing in memory of Gil Faigle
on Saturday, October 21st. Last years event was not a fundraiser
just a fun outing for those that knew Gil. This year they have
decided to sell hole sponsors with proceeds going directly to
the PHWHK (that's us).
Participation in the golf outing itself
costs $55.00 per person. That includes 18 with a cart some beer
and a steak dinner following at TJ's. It is a scramble format.
Each hole sponsors sign will be a Mickey
Mouse logo (don't tell Disney), and obviously, the name of the
sponsor or individual. A hole sponsorship costs $25.00. If you
wish to sponsor a hole TJ's is asking that you make your checks
payable to THE PRICE HILL WESTERN HILLS KIWANIS! Our club will
get 100% of the hole sponsorship proceeds. The plan is to double
sell each hole, if they can that would be $900.00 to our club.
Anyone interested in getting a foursome
or sponsoring a hole can call me (Paul Hogue at 251-3700).
