PRICE HILL / WESTERN HILLS KIWANIS BULLETIN - October 17, 2000

Therefore thou art great, O Lord God; for there is none like thee, and there is no God besides Thee . . . 2 Sam. 7:22

Frank St. Charles called the meeting to order and after the song and pledge yours truly gave the invocation. Frank began with thanks for the turnout. We had 35 in attendance. The question was asked whether it just happened or was a result of the post card mailer that went out asking all to come to the meeting. So we all gave Bob Rinear a hand for his efforts in mailing the post cards.

Frank then asked for guests and Tom Reuter introduced Jack Arkle a CPA and his second meeting. Dan Kip then intro'd Scott See from the Salvation Army and his second visit.

Our sick list reports from Ed Willig that his son Fr. Jim is doing better after his treatments but there is concern that the cancer is still persisting in the lungs. Keep up the prayers for Fr. Jim Willig. Fred Mohr reported that Dick Mather had a bit of a setback. Dick came in using a walker, Fred reports they will be doing a sonogram to try and determine the problem. Dick was in good spirits at the meeting. And Frank reports his father is doing well going through dialysis. Keeping up the good fight. Please pray for all of our members for the best in continued good health!

Bob Rinear reported on the mentoring program. Oyler still needs mentors as all third graders must read at a certain level or they cannot go on to fourth grade. Only takes a half hour and is well laid out for the mentor. Call Bob or Greg Hockenberry for information. Monday thru Thursday from 8:30 to Noon is all it takes, a half-hour of your time. 244-3000 Bob also requested all members attend a Rose Bloom Boom meeting on Thursday at 7:30pm

Jane Reuter reported that until further notice the club, as part of our membership drive, would pay for lunch for prospective new members. Jane also asked for an effort by all to gain new members.

There was a break in the action while Gene Simpkins told a joke in lieu of his eggs-for-us award. It was a real yolk yolk Gene!

Bill Bigner asked for anyone who wants an Entertainment book to order it, as we want to continue to support the Delhi Riverview Kiwanis in their efforts as they support us in ours. So get your Entertainment 2000 today and enjoy some great discounts.

At this point there were some questions about not getting bulletins. Well we need to know who wants it by mail. If you do not have a computer of fax please advise Kevin Kahny that you need mailed bulletins, all others will receive by fax of Email.

NOTE: If you get this one late its my fault I did not get it to Kevin until Saturday night.

Dan Kipp announced a successful interclub with White Oak club. Next month we need different attendees. Howard Zoellner will have budget meeting at 11am on prior to Oct 31st meeting. We need a chairman for the caring committee to stand in for Tina while she is on leave of absence. Let Frank know of your interest. Please let Frank know of your ideas on the past presidents luncheon. Do we need it fore all every year? Just for the immediate what? Your thoughts please.

Glad Hands went to Wes Reynolds and Gene Simpkins. Split the pot to Ed Willig. Ed then went into song Singing in the rain accompanied by Tom White wonderful sounds. We closed with (a) Smile. Carol Sohmer introduced our guest from Cincinnati State, Veryl Stokes? Applause and comments during the announcing of the guest covered the guests name and I was unable to confirm.

So pardon the spelling if its wrong. He is the head of computer Science department; he spoke on the co-op program.

Thanks for the meeting see you next Tuesday
