PRICE HILL / WESTERN HILLS KIWANIS BULLETIN - November 14, 2000

Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. I Thess 5:18

President Frank St. Charles open the meeting and called upon Jim Schwartz to give the invocation.

President Frank asked the members to introduce their guest. Tom Reuter introduced Jack Arkle, who is a prospective new member. Gary, excuse me "Ace" Becker introduced Tom Oker. Guest are always welcome to attend our meeting especially since the food has improved.

The sick list is encouraging . President Frank says his father is doing well, Fr Willig is holding his own and Tom Reuter reported his recent visit to Cleveland Clinic show everything is "clear and in remission".

Jane Reuter asked if anyone would like to purchase a raffle ticket sponsored by the "Friends of Oyler" supporting Oyler School. The tickets are $100 each. Several went together on a couple tickets. Jane also announced Kiwanis International is encouraging Clubs to increase membership by offering a contest with the winners receiving some very attractive prizes. Since we will be competing nationally it will be very difficult to win. That should not stop us from trying to increase our membership.

As in the past several years we have volunteered to be "Bell Ringers" for the Salvation Army in Price Hill. John Nordmeyer is in-charge this year, because the leader Dan Kipp left for California. If you can help please sign up for a shift on one of the four Saturdays of December. The shifts are two hours starting a 10 AM till 6 PM at the Western Hill Wal-mart Store on Ferguson Road.

A couple of our members celebrated birthdays this week, Steve Newsome and Paul Klatte. We sang the traditional birthday song and ended with a Smile.

For the past ten years Price Hill has had a Thanksgiving Day parade. This year our own Jack Kahny will be honored as King of the Parade. If you would like to see the parade and of course King Jack, it starts at Glenway and Ferguson and ends at the St Lawrence Church on Thanksgiving morning at 10AM.

The program was presented by the Vocational Guidance Committee chaired by Tom Reiring. The following students:

HIGH SCHOOL
Elder
Seton
Western Hills
Mother of Mercy

HOBY
Andrew Ackerman
Ester West
Luke Miller

OPERATION YOUTH
Jay Arns
Colleen Lahey
Sarah Miller
Stephanie Berndsen

attended the Operation Youth or the HOBY programs this past summer and were invited to our meeting to tell of their experiences. The show of enthusiasm by these students certifies this is a valuable asset in preparing our youth to be tomorrow's leaders.
