Therefore the Lord himself will give
you a sign. Behold, a young woman shall conceive and bear a son,
and shall call his name Immanuel. Isaiah 7:14
President Frank St Charles started the
meeting with the song and pledge. H.A. Musser was called upon
to open this Advent season with a with a message and prayer.
The book of Geniuses tells the story of Adam and Eve falling
from the grace of God to how the birth of Christ began the reuniting
of the relationship of people to God.
We had several guest today. Lt. Scott See
introduced Christie Cox and Ms. Birkofer, they are in-charge
of the "Red Kettle Program" for the Salvation Army.
President Frank introduced Georgette Faigle, Mary Schaefer, and
Donna Muerthert. Donna is the owner of T.J. Lounge, 937 Devils
Backbone Rd. They raised $1055 for Kiwanis with the "Second
Annual Golf Outing in Memory of Gil Faigle on Saturday, October
21st. We thank Donna and T J's and hope it will be even more
successful next year.
John Nordmeyer reported Fr Willig is home
at the parish, but will receive treatment next week. President
Frank says his father is doing very well. Howard Zoellner 's
wife, Roseanne who had surgery on her back will be coming home
today. Howard also reported his granddaughter recently had a
heart problem, and after a real scare is OK now.
VP Paul Hogue thanked the members who donated
gifts to the Aktion Club.
Don Blum was asked to be the master of
ceremonies for the appreciation "Roast" of Past President
Tony Proffitt, Don told of a few incidents about Tony which surprise
us. Although Tony has a successful vending machine business today,
he was not always so successful in this type of business in his
earlier years. The bra machine was a good idea, but not in a
men's locker room and the pay toilets at White Castle were great
at first, till someone with a really real problem did not have
change.
Number one on Tony's success list is: "President
of the Price Hill Western Hills Kiwanis, 1999-2000 year".
We thank you for your contribution to the Club, not just as President,
but for all your years of service.

VP Carol Sohmer introduced the speaker
our own Jennie Olberding from the Urban Appalachian Council.
Jennie told of how the need for the U A C came about and how
they help the Appalachian people in our area. The U A C is not
a give-away program, their main focus is on education. Jennie
suggested we watch the TV program "American Hallow"
about the Appalachians. It usually is shown on the PBS channels.
