And suddenly there was with the angel
a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying, "Glory
to God in the highest, and on earth peace among men with whom
he is pleased!" Luke 2:13-14
Merry Christmas
President Frank St Charles opened the meeting
as usual and asked Greg Hartlaub and Tony Proffitt to give the
Advent Message. They read several inspirational passages to help
us prepare for the coming of Christ.
Edgar Willig reported his son Father Willig
is having problems with his hip and needs our prayers. Howard
Zoellner said his wife Roseanne is in pain, but is showing improvement.
Tim Hornsby's sister is doing fine with her new kidney. Actually
it's a pre-owned one, but it's new to her. Remember them all
in your prayers.
We had the pleasure of dinning with two
former members. Earl Oakes, who will shortly be waving good-by
to us and heading for Florida in his trusty motor home. And Bill
Stautberg who just arrived from Florida in his trusty Delta airplane.
Earl is heading to the warmer climate, but Bill, why would you
leave 80 degrees for this 10 degree weather? Anyway we are happy
to see you and please visit often.
Tom Reuter thanked all that helped with
the toy wrap and Oyler School Christmas Party. A special thanks
to Gary "Santa Claus" Becker, Tom "Western Hills
Window's Truck" Riggs, the music men, Tom Reiring and H
A Musser and all the other twenty plus who attended. Everyone
who ever attended the Kiwanis Christmas party at Oyler knows
you get thanked a thousand times by just seeing the joy it brings
to those kids.
John "Red Kettle" Nordmeyer counted
the wet pennies from Saturday. The total was $530.00 which can
surely be called "rainy day money".
Two of our newest members, Craig Hockenberry
and Scott See were inducted by Bob "The Inductor" Rinear.
Bob explained the importance of attending the weekly meetings
and active participation in our other events. This is how you
meet other members and make new friends. Good advice for all
our members.
The "Perfect Attendance Awards"
were presented to the members. To achieve this award requires
attendance at 52 meetings/events or more in a year. Howard Zoellner
leads all, attaining his 38th year and followed by Bill Bigner
with 36 years. Three achieved 24 years, T Reuter, R Rinear and
E Ostertag, . Other recipients are D Kipp 21, G Becker 18, T
White 16, W Flender, Jr. 15, E Flick 15, T Hornsby 12, J Schroeder
11, L Schroeder 11, F St. Charles 11, T McGary 10, S Flick 9,
T Proffitt 9, J Reuter 8, J Nordmeyer 5, C Sohmer 4, P Hogue
3, R Forte 1.
Normally the program at this time of the
year is called the "Tom White Christmas Program". That
may still be the official name, but its nick name is " the
Twelve Days of Christmas". Walt Luthy played the part of
the Partridge in a Pear Tree. We either need a bigger Pear Tree
or a smaller Partridge. Thank you to Tom White, Edgar Willig,
Walt Luthy and all others, from the Two Turtle doves to the Twelve
Drummers. We miss you Cliff!
