Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord
God is on everlasting rock. Isaiah 26:4
President Frank St.Charles had the pleasure
of calling the well attended meeting to order. We had thirty
two members plus guest in attendance with several faithful members
on vacation. Zita Franklin was called upon to give the invocation.
Don Bearghman introduced his guest, Oyler
School honor student, Tiffany Ingram. Tiffany is very active
at school and in the community. It's always nice to hear the
good things about our youth. Other prominent guest include Bill
Stautberg, Rita Trauth and Zita Franklin.
John Nordmeyer reported father Jim Willig
is going to therapy next week. Howard Zoellner said his wife
is improving, but still in some pain.
In the "Flowers Vs Darts" category,
Bill Bigner wants to give "Flowers" to John Nordmeyer
for spending several hours keeping company with a mutual friend
who was very ill. John is a busy Kiwanian, but works quietly.
While speaking of John Nordmeyer he reported
our Kiwanis efforts with the Salvation Army Red Kettle at Wal-Mart
netted $3267.08. Not bad for 4 days work, in fact it was 62%
of the 36 days total. We did have some Kiwanians (who wish to
remain anonymous) put in a few extra coins. The Salvation Army
sent us a gracious thank you note.
I'm not sure why the singing was limited
to just "Smile", something about no leader. We had
Tommy White. And what about Walt?

The Board of Directors Business Meeting date is changed to Wednesday
January 24, 2001.
The Young Children Priority #1 Committee will meet on January
16, 2001 after the regular Tuesday luncheon meeting.
The Program Parts One and Two.
Part One:
VP Carol Sohmer introduced Craig Hockenberry from Oyler School.
The "Friends of Oyler" recently held a raffle with
a grand prize of $15,000. Craig said the sales of tickets were
a bit slow so they asked the teachers to help. Even with their
help the raffle less than a success. This is where our Kiwanis
Club got involved. As they say the rest is history. Craig asked
Tiffany Ingram to draw the winning ticket.
Part Two:
Tom Reiring chair of the Vocational Guidance Committee has discovered
in the past couple years just how difficult the task of chairing
this committee can be. This prompted him to honor a Kiwanian
known as "Mr. Vocational Guidance", Clifford Franklin.
Although Cliff recently received the Hixon
Award for his 30 plus years of dedication to Kiwanis. Tom and
the Club wished to honor Cliff for his years as chairman of the
very active Vocational Guidance Committee. Tom presented Cliff
with a plaque and flowers for Zita. I do believe Cliff was touched.
His speech only lasted 39 seconds and no jokes. Many thanks to
Rita Trauth and Bill Stautberg for attending, and of course Cliff's
wife, Zita, for being his designated driver. Cliff you earned
it!
