PRICE HILL / WESTERN HILLS KIWANIS BULLETIN - January 16, 2001

He is a shield unto them that put their trust in Him. ...Proverbs 30:5

Frank St Charles called all to order with Tom White at the piano leading us in "God Bless America" and the Pledge followed by the invocation given admirably by "Ace" Becker.

Frank welcomed the returning travelers acknowledging Tom Reuter who was asked to lay for the group and Bob Rinear who was dubbed best at synchronized swimming. Is that spelled sync or sink hronized. Oh well I just threw that out to see if it would float!

Guests were introduced Carol Sohmer who intro'd Linda Preston and Cliff intro'd his wife Zita.

Frank then asked Ed Willig to report on son Jim. Jim said I feel great but I have surgery this week. Ed reports cancer spread and large tumor on hip will be removed the hip and new rod in the leg will be inserted. So Ed asks that the prayers keep coming and hope for the best.

Howard reports his wife is on the mend but will take time and Frank reports his father doing well in dialysis.

Frank read letter that announced the Kiwanis 6th division is having a training session for achieving club excellence on January 27th (Saturday). Held at lower level of Twin Towers on Hamilton Ave., from 9am to noon. There will be rolls and coffee available. If interested show up for an interclub.

Cliff thanked everyone for the award from last week and again praised and thanked his committee.

John Nordmeyer says if you want something other than calendars bring it in. Winners are Ron Forte', Tom Reuter, Ed Flick. Ed Willig read a thank you for the birthday card we sent to Tina McGary last week.

Split the pot for $20 bucks went to Bob Rinear.

Edgar Willig led us in song with happy birthday to Dick Mather, Walt Luthy and Ed Flick. He then went to a heart-felt rendition of "Tell Me Why". And as always "Smile" to end the song fest.

This month's business meeting will be at West Park and is on the 24th of Jan. We need a sponsor for the food for that night. From then on Frank would like the meeting on the second Wednesday of the month.

Carol Sohmer introduced our guest for the week Linda Cavetti with the Enquirer.

Lunch was great by the way. Beef tips and noodles with gravy, fresh String Beans, Rolls (fresh) and salad. It was very tasty and worth the trip. Please make an effort to attend the meetings, everyone is important to the club.

See you Tuesday,

Walt Luthy
