...lead a life worthy of the Lord, fully
pleasing to him, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing
in the knowledge of God. Col. 1:10
I'm rushing. I'm writing this issue of
the bulletin in record time. I don't want to get a bad rap like
one of my co-editors. So he was late with last week's breaking
news, he didn't meet his deadline. He let us down. But then again,
he has some endearing qualities. When I think of them I'll let
you know.
Lenten message by Estelle Ruehl.
Good news for the week, we had a nice size
group due to the efforts of our Membership Committee. You know,
I keep getting these poison pen notes from an anonymous Kiwanian
saying if I don't show up for the meetings and they have to come
and get me, it could get ugly. So with this strong arm tactic
my choices were limited.
We had a few guests and some members we
haven't seen for a while. Hi Tina, Tim, Denise and Guy. I guess
you received the same post card as I did.
Father Jim continues to battle cancer and
inspiring others on his journey. Tune in to Fr. Jim Willig on
radio every Sunday 10:00 a.m. WOBO 88.7 AM. Father will soon
celebrate his 50th birthday.
Frank St. Charles still has his eye lid
sewn shut but seems to be doing okay.
Bob Rinear and Sandy Flick reminds us that
we only have 7-8 weeks to go before the big Rose Bloom Boom.
Ticket sales and corporate sponsors are of the utmost importance.
Remember be a member not a spectator.
Paul Hogue needs help in selling corporate
sponsors. If you have any possible leads on companies or individuals
that may be a candidate, please contact him. The deadline for
sponsors will be April 27th-30th. Ron and Denise Grause of Ron's
Complete Auto Body came through again with a sponsorship.
John Nordmeyer announced that PHWHK is
being considered for a special award from the Salvation Army.
Through our club's efforts during the Christmas holidays, 62%
of their revenue was raised by Kiwanians.
PHWHK Lenten Breakfast will be held April
4th at 7:30 a.m. at the North Presbyterian Church.
Mr. Murdock thanks our club for the $250
check donated by our club to the Gamble Nippert YMCA. This organization
helps people in low income housing-the handicap-single parents
etc. More funds are needed to just keep up with all the requests
for families in need.
Membership was the program for the week.
Jane Reuter gave us an overlook on what the committee is planning
for our future as a healthy and functioning organization. We
were asked to fill out a questionnaire. All members are expected
to participate in this census and to be brutally honest.
A short storyI'll share with you (something
I read) when I was younger, I hated going to weddings.....it
seemed that all of my aunts and the grandmotherly types used
to come up to me poke me in the ribs, cackle and tell me, "you're
next." They stopped that crap when I started doing the same
thing at funerals.
