THE PRICE HILL / WESTERN HILLS KIWANIS BULLETIN - June 5, 2001

As one walked into the meeting room for this week's Kiwanis gathering there could be heard light conversation , laughter and a feeling of camaraderie was in the air. Members were on the way to the lunch table where a meal of spaghetti and meatballs, salad and bread sticks awaited. UHMMMUHMMMM GOOOOD!! Tasty, to say the least and not only this week but for the past month or so the new menu has been worth the visit.

Now as ever the Bell was rung by our President Frank St Charles calling the meeting to order and requesting the music from our resident Maestro, Tom White. We sung, we Pledged Allegiance, and a perfect invocation given by Captain Scott See. Also Scott and Spouse are about to become parents to a baby boy. Congrats from all to you and the Mrs., Scott!

Frank got right down to business as this week he wanted to allow plenty of time for our Speaker Glen Sample.

Frank then introduced Maryann and Jerry from the Entertainment Book group to explain the Fund raising for Kiwanis thru distribution of entertainment books. To make a long story short all the Kiwanis Clubs that participate from the 6th district are considered one group under this program. That means the more clubs that sell the books the larger the share of the proceeds of the sale comes to the Kiwanis clubs of (6th District). So while it may appear that we are in competition with Riverview we are actually not as the return is based on the total books sold in the district. We will discuss this on the 20th at the Board meeting so BE THERE TO DISCUSS THIS AS A POTENTIAL FUND RAISER!!!

Tom Reuter announced that his visit to Cleveland clinic was good news for nasal exam but they could not tell from CAT scan what was going on with the other. He needs must wait while the medical wheels grind ever so slowly.

Get your Support your Police stickers from Bill Bigner!!

Edgar reports his son Fr. Jim not doing well.

Gene Simpkins awarded the good eggs to Bill Bigner.

Next Board meeting changed to the 20th of June at West Park.

Bob Rinear won split the pot

Edgar led us in song with a D Day song My Buddy then finished with a smile and SMILE.

Glen Sample was introduced by Carol Sohmer and we were entertained with stories from the past about Cincy Sports and the like including the great paper trick that has become Glen's trade mark.

All in all this was a great meeting. If you were not there please make the next one. If you just didn't come then shame on you, you missed a good meal, good time and great speaker! So we'll see you next Tuesday for sure. Don't forget Tuesday, for a great time.

Tanks
